SOAP Note S section Draft due Monday:
Using the research notes from your infectious disease diary, imagine you are a doctor having an initial (first time) visit with a person that has the disease you researched. Imagine what your interaction with them would be like. Think about how old they are, where they are from, what their life is like, and how they started noticing symptoms that led them to come see you.

After visualizing this interaction, complete, as all doctors do, a SOAP note. A draft of the FIRST SECTION (only Section S) must be completed by Monday. I have attached in Google Classroom:
-a SOAP note checklist that doctors use (this is a medical version if you are interested in seeing what a SOAP note entails in real life)
-a rubric of assignment expectations (this is based on the doctor checklist, but has been streamlined and simplified a bit)
-a video explaining what a SOAP note is
-an example of an S Section of a SOAP note - feel free to use this as a template when completing your assignment

PLEASE REVIEW THOSE MATERIALS BEFORE COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT. If you still have questions, feel free to email me or comment on the assignment thread.

Good luck and have a great weekend!

Assignment

Finish your research sheet on your chosen disease (question list is posted below). Tomorrow we will be reviewing for Friday's exam and starting our SOAP writeups. More info on that tomorrow.

Your research Google Doc should be approximately one page long and include the following details about your disease:
title of disease
a graphic of some aspect of the disease (can be a photograph or diagram that shows how it is transmitted. Any visual that communicates information about the disease will do - keep images informative and appropriate.)
causes/risk factors
signs & symptoms
diagnosis (i.e. how is it diagnosed? what tests will determine whether a person has this disease?)
prevention (how can people avoid getting this disease?)
prognosis
treatment
how the disease affects the _____ system (which body system does it primarily impact?)
resources (at least two) - Remember Google and WIkipedia are NOT sources, but they can be USED to FIND good, solid sources such as .gov, .edu, and research sites. WebMD, CDC, and Mayo Clinic are also great.
