Principal's Welcome

Welcome to St. Dominic High School!

                                                               Principal

As the oldest co-educational Catholic High School in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, St. Dominic continues to build on the 88 year old legacy of our founding pastor, Msgr. Charles J. Canivan. Since its inception, focus on the student as an individual has remained at the heart of the personalized learning program.

It is difficult to walk through the halls on Anstice St., play on the fields in Muttontown or pray in the Chapel without experiencing the exceptional warmth of the St. Dominic community. This nurturing atmosphere provides an environment where young men and women are challenged to excel in and out of the classroom. The faculty is dedicated to providing countless opportunities where students recognize their gifts, uncover new talents and actualize their fullest potential. In short, the experience is transformational with the expectation that each graduate is able to recognize his or her obligation to be of service to others, and in so doing, make a difference in our world.

At the heart of all programs at Doms is a strong desire to stay true to its mission. The mission statement is proclaimed across the campus and one is constantly reminded of the call "to educate young people in a community dedicated to Gospel values and Catholic teaching." True to the School's reverence for the dignity and respect of all individuals, students of all faiths and diverse abilities are embraced.

While our website is a good introduction to life at St. Doms, it does not take the place of a visit. "Be a Bayhawk for a day!" Come and see for yourself all that St. Dominic High School has to offer. Learn how "you can get there from here." Be part of a legacy that has graduates who are proud to be called Alumni!

God bless you and all those you love.

Sincerely,

Maureen Keller Appel
