Welcome to the English Department

Our curriculum is designed to foster an appreciation for great literature and to develop writing skills while challenging and engaging students. All our classes are aligned in accordance with NYS standards. In addition to the required courses, we offer elective courses in journalism and yearbook. 

Students who qualify may take A.P. Language and Composition (11th) and A.P. Literature and Composition (12th). 

Students may apply for the VERITAS Chapter of the National English Honor Society if the requirements for application are met.  Students are able to apply in the middle of sophomore year.

College essay writing is built into the curriculum.  Students will write a college essay in the spring of junior year.  In the first few weeks of senior year, students will work to polish and perfect the college essay.

The English Department is dedicated to providing individualized attention to students who need extra help.  On any given day of the week, an English teacher is available to help students who need it.
