Science Research Students Soar at LI Symposium

Barcode Long Island is a five-year initiative designed to engage Long Island high school students in studying biodiversity using DNA technology. Students gain an intuitive understanding of the crucial interdependence between humans and the natural environment. Participants learn to use DNA barcoding to explore, document, and track the biodiversity on and around Long Island through independent experiments led by their teachers. In addition to presenting their research, they had the opportunity to meet James Watson, Nobel Prize winner and co-discoverer of the structure of DNA.
