Krystal Townend
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Krystal Townend, and I am honored to join the St. Dominic High School Counseling Department for the 2020-2021 school year. Over the past few months, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us in different ways. I am sensitive to the difficulties families may have experienced, and will collaborate with building administration, teachers, and support staff to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. As a new team member, I am committed to helping my students and their families have a smooth transition into the new school year.
While I am new to St. Dominic High School, I have previously worked as a school counselor in the Levittown and West Islip school districts. By working with all students in grades 9-12, I am experienced in college admissions counseling, academic advising, and helping ninth graders transition to the high school level. In addition, I have worked with special education students and am familiar with testing accommodations and Individualized Education Plans to ensure success for all students.
School counselors have a unique opportunity to work with students throughout their four years of high school. I believe this allows me to develop trusted working relationships with both my students and their families. What I enjoy most about working with high school aged students is the self-discovery that occurs at this stage. As students develop new interests, they are introduced to new possibilities for their future. As their school counselor, I am dedicated to promoting the academic, career and social emotional development of all students. While I look forward to meeting each student individually, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you all soon!
