Welcome to the World Languages Department
 
Through a rigorous academic curriculum and additional scholastic and cultural activities throughout the year, the World Languages Department seeks to develop the linguistic skills and cultural awareness that are necessary for today’s global society.
 
All students are required to complete a minimum of three years of language study (even if beginning at Level 2 as a freshman). Course eligibility and placement are based on academic achievement. Please consult the Course Catalog for requirements.
 
The department offers the following courses:

Spanish 2R/2H
Spanish 3R/3H
Spanish 4
College Spanish 4 (6 college credits from Adelphi University are earned in addition to high school credit.)
AP Spanish Language and Culture
 
Italian 1
Italian 2R/2H
Italian 3R/3H
Italian 4/4H
AP Italian Language and Culture
 
Students with high academic achievement who demonstrate a commitment to language study are eligible to become members of the Spanish and Italian National Honor Societies. Please see our Honor Society pages for membership criteria.
