All students should work on their review sheets over the weekend. Only hand-written review sheets will be permitted for use on Monday's exam. All review sheets will be checked prior to the test. Additional copies of the review sheet can be found on Google Classroom.

The students will have a short quiz on the Age of Exploration and the Mesoamerican Civilizations on Friday, May 25

Students should complete the homework assignment on the Aztec/Inca that is posted on google classroom. It must be turned in electronically prior to class tomorrow.

Students must complete the Age of Exploration/Columbian Exchange Worksheet that was given to them in class today.

Extra Help will be moved to Wednesday, May 16th for this week only. I apologize for any inconvenience and ask that any student who has questions or concerns speak with me in class. I will make every effort to accommodate the students as best as I can.

Students must complete the "Age of Exploration" packet they received in class by Tuesday, May 15th. The packet covers the motivations for exploration in the 15th century.

Protestant Reformation Worksheet must be submitted on Google Classroom prior to class tomorrow morning.

Students will take a brief quiz tomorrow, May 4th.

 

It will review Africa, the beginning of the Renaissance and the Plague.

Student should complete the packets on humanism and the renaissance that they started in class today.

Chapter 18 in textbook must be read by next Monday, April 30. This content will be covered in class this week and the students will not be having a chapter quiz, however, this material will be on the next test.

Students must read and annotate the article "Trading Salt for Gold" on google classroom. We will be having a class discussion on this tomorrow and all students must participate in the discussion to get credit for their homework.

Test on Middle Ages, Crusades, Rise of Western Europe

100 Years War and Joan of Arc Homework assignment on Google Classroom due tomorrow, April 24

The students will be working on research papers at home over the next six weeks. The assignment will be given out and gone over in class on Thursday. The students will receive detailed information at that time. The due dates for each part are posted below.

Due Dates:

• Monday, March 19: Submit your two picks for essay questions. Number them in the order of your preference. They must be submitted on the topic sheet.
• Monday, March 26: Thesis Statement due. 1-2 sentences, typed.
• Monday, April 23: Research Paper due!! This is NOT NEGOTIABLE. You will be penalized 10 points for every day that it is late (this includes Saturday and Sunday).

Reminder: The Research Papers are due on Monday, April 23rd

 

Students are responsible for making sure that their papers are uploaded to Turn-It-In. If any student needs the information to join the class, the codes can be found on Google Classroom.

 

I will be holding extra help on Wednesday and Friday BY APPOINTMENT ONLY to answer specific questions for the research paper. Thursday's extra help session will be held as scheduled.

Students must read and annotate the Legacy of the Crusades article.  They should be focusing on some of the positive changes that resulted from the Crusades.

Pre-Quiz on the Middle Ages will be given in class on Friday, April 13. The students should be reading and annotating the chapter on their own at home. Some of the chapter was covered when we completed the Byzantine Empire before Spring Break and this information will not be the quiz.

Intro to the Dark Ages packet is due today. Students began the packet before break and will need to complete it and hand in the hard copy on Thursday, April 12. It will be a graded as a writing assignment.

Any student who was absent must speak with me regarding turn-it-in which we will be using for the upcoming research paper submission

Read "Life on the Manor" and answer questions 1-5.

Students must bring fully charged chrome books to class Tuesday, March 27. We will be doing work for our upcoming research papers.

Thesis statements for the research paper must be submitted. Hard copies only, late submissions will not be accepted and will have a negative impact on the over all research paper grade.

All classes will be having a Quest on Friday. It will be counted as a test grade, but will be modified to accommodate our shortened class periods due to Spirit Day.

All students must complete and hand in their worksheets from the station learning activity we did in class today. These worksheets will be graded, so no late submissions will be accepted.

Next week extra help will be held on Tuesday, March 7th

We are scheduled to have a test tomorrow 3/7.  In the event of a snow day, the students will be taking the test on Friday, 3/9.  They are receiving a review sheet in class today, but an additional copy can be found on google classroom.

On Thursday and Friday of this week the students will be working on an essay in class. On Thursday they will have the class period to work on the outline and planning and then on Friday they will write the essay in class. It must be completed during the class period and submitted before they leave. They will be handwriting all aspects of this essay and will not have access to outside sources such as their chromebook or class notes.  

Students must read and annotate the article they were given on the Byzantine Church.  They should also answer the 2 guided reading questions which accompany the article.

Students should be reading Chapter 16 "The Two Worlds of Christendom" in their textbooks.  We will be starting the Byzantine Empire in class this week.  There will not be a Chapter Quiz because of February break.

Students should read Chapter 14 "The Expansive Realm of Islam" in their textbook.  There will not be a chapter quiz, however, Islam will be covered on their upcoming exam.

Khan Academy Article and Questions due Wednesday

Chapter 4 in textbook must be read and students are suggested to take notes or complete an outline.

Students must complete the video and analysis questions before class tomorrow.  They will be graded.

Students are asked to bring their Mesopotamia test from last week back in tomorrow. 

Read Chapter 3 and answer the questions that are posted on Google Classroom.

The questions must be turned in on Monday.  Emails, and shared documents will not be accepted.

Students will read and annotate the article "The Hittites and Ancient Anatolia"  They must answer the questions and submit on google classroom.

The students will be having a writing quiz on Friday, October 6th.  They will complete a writing prompt in class.  While there is no content to study for this quiz, the students should review the writing strategies on google classroom and recall what information must be included in a thesis statement. 

Read and complete the question on the "Epic of Gilgamesh."

Watch slideshow on Ancient Mesopotamia and take notes on the content.  Notes will be checked on Monday and used for class discussion.  Any questions that arise while viewing the slideshow should be written down and will be discussed in class.

Tomorrow is the last day to return your signed map quiz to me.  Any student who does not return the signed answer key in class tomorrow will serve a detention!  In addition, tomorrow is the last day to make up a map quiz if you have not already. 

 

We will complete our "Help Wanted!" poster project in class tomorrow so students should bring in any materials they wish to use for their project.  Paper and crayons/markers will be provided.

The students will have a map quiz on Friday, September 22nd.  This map quiz will relate to the summer assignment they completed.  In order to ensure that students have the proper information to study from, we will go over the summer assignment maps in class later this week.

Map Quiz Friday!

Students will read the article "The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human Race."  While reading, they should be taking notes as we prepare for our first Socratic Seminar.

Students will complete the reading and questions we started in class.  They are annotating the article, "Lucy and the Leakeys" and have two short answer questions to complete.  The questions will be collected in class tomorrow, 9/13.

Please complete the classwork assignment this weekend.  I will accept either an electronic copy or a hard copy for this assignment.  Also, please read and familiarize yourself with chapter 1 of the textbook. Students should be taking notice of how the chapter is organized in addition to the content it includes. I uploaded a link to a pdf version of the book which I found online.  While it is not the exact edition of the book we will be using, the information and format will be almost identical.
