This course exposes students to writing and letter writing as an art form. Students will learn basic strokes and materials to create alphabets such as Italic, Gothic and Celtic in calligraphy. Students will master fonts to advance to creating words of art including calligraphy and design in a variety of mediums on traditional and experimental substrates. Students will also explore historical and contemporary applications for designing with font and typography.
