Shadow Day

Shadow Day – Admissions – St. Dominic High School

If your son/daughter would like to spend a day at Saint Dominic High School, please call 516-922-4888 ext. 5315 to schedule your day.  We welcome both 7th and 8th graders to be a Bayhawk for the day to see what it is like to be a student at St. Dominic High School! A Shadow Day is an opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students to spend the day at St. Dominic High School and experience what it is like to be a member of the Bayhawk Family. Students who are interested are paired with a St. Dominic student, usually, a freshman, sophomore, or someone who you may already know, for the day to attend classes, go to lunch and get a true feel for the life at St. Dominic.

How do I schedule a Shadow Day?

You can call the Dean of Admissions, Mr. Richard Garrett, at 516-922-4888 x5325 or e-mail him at rgarrett@stdoms.org to schedule a shadow day. You may also click HERE to fill out our quick Online Form which will automatically be sent to the Dean of Admissions. Students are responsible for letting their elementary or middle school know that they will be spending the day at St. Dominic.

What time should I arrive, and when will I be dismissed?

On your assigned day, you should enter in the main entrance of Canivan Hall at 7:45 a.m. and go directly to the Admissions Office. There will be assigned parking spots in the faculty lot designated for "Admissions Parking". Students will be escorted back to the Admissions Office where they can be picked up at the completion of their day at 11:30 a.m.

What is the dress code for Shadow Days?

Students are asked to dress nicely: a collared shirt or polo shirt, dress pants and flat shoes. Do not wear jeans, t-shirts, pajama pants, athletic wear or sandals. While the seventh or eighth grade students are not required to wear their current uniform or the St. Dominic High School uniform, they are asked to dress appropriately. Please no cell phones or other electronic devices in the school. If you need to make a phone call, you may do so in the Admissions Office at any time.

Where do I park when I drop off/pick up?

Please park in the faculty lot where there are signs reserved for Admissions. If you need to cancel or reschedule please call (516) 922-4888 ext. 5315. In the event of inclement weather, students who are scheduled may still participate on delayed start days. Check the website for the scheduled start time, and plan to arrive in our main lobby 15 to 20 minutes ahead of time.
