Shadow Day

If your son/daughter would like to spend a day at Saint Dominic High School Admission Office  please call 516-922-4888 to schedule your day.  Parents are welcome to receive a tour of the school on the day  that their child  visits.  We welcome both 7th and 8th graders to be a  Bayhawk for the  day to see what it is like to be a student at St. Dominic High  School! A  Shadow Day is an opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students to spend the day at St. Dominic High School  and experience what it is  like to be a member of the Bayhawk  Family.   Students who are interested are paired with a St. Dominic student,  usually   a  freshman,   sophomore, or someone  who you may already know for the day to attend classes, go to lunch and get a true feel for the life at St. Dominic. 
How do I schedule a Shadow Day?
You can call the Dean of Admissions, Mr. Richard Garrett at  516-922-4888  or e-mail him at to schedule a shadow day. Or you may Click HERE to fill out our quick Online Form which will automatically be sent to Dean of Admissions. Students  are responsible for letting their elementary school know that they will be  spending the day at St. Dominic.
What time should I arrive, and when will I be dismissed?
On your assigned day you should enter in main entrance of Marian Hall at 7:45 a.m. and go directly to the Admissions Office.  There will be assigned parking spots in the faculty lot designated for "Admissions Parking".  Eighth graders will be escorted back to the admissions office where they can be picked up at the  completion of their day at 2:00 p.m.
What do I do for lunch?
You do not need to bring lunch. St. Dominic High School will provide you with a lunch voucher. Snacks may be purchased separately.  Students may bring their own lunch and/or snacks.
What is the dress code for Shadow Days?
Students are asked to dress nicely, a collared shirt or polo shirt,  dress pants and flat shoes. Do not wear jeans, t-shirts, pajama pants, athletic    wear, or sandals. While the eighth grade students are not required to wear  their  current uniform or the St. Dominic High School uniform they are asked to dress  appropriately.  Please no cell phones or other electronic devices  in  the  school. If you need to make a phone call, you may do so in admissions office at  any time.
Where do I park when I drop off/pick up?
Please park in the faculty lot where there are signs reserved for  Admissions.   If you need to cancel or reschedule please call (516) 922-4888. In the event of inclement weather. Students who are  scheduled may still participate on delayed start days. Check the website for the  scheduled start time and plan to arrive in our main lobby 15 to 20   minutes   ahead  of time.
